New Device Designed to Detect Children Left in Vehicles

TEMPE, Ariz. — A company here has unveiled a device designed to detect any movement — including those as minute as heartbeats or breathing — for vehicle occupant monitoring.

The Ambient Sensing Node (ASN), one of EDGE3 Technologies’ new products, is an artificial intelligence (AI) powered product created to detect children left behind in vehicles, including school buses.

Should a child be detected in the bus after it has been parked, the ASN device is engineered to alert the driver and fleet operator via telematics notification.

EDGE3 Technologies is a supplier of end-to-end AI and vision analytics products and solutions. EDGE3’s intelligent cameras and ambient sensors are designed to solve problems to improve the safety of automobiles, the efficiency of shipping logistics, and the performance of robots.
